Online support for you and others

safe online

There are many online support spaces for trans young people including forums, Facebook groups, online journals and of course YouTube films. If you have a safe place where you can access the internet then search for ‘trans youth’ or ‘advice on being trans’ and lots of information will come up.

You might also want to check out our list of trans related books and films, some of which you can buy or access online.

A good place to send family and friends to is mermaidsuk.org.uk who can help them understand what being trans is all about, and there are loads of resources on their site including for parents and for schools.

A lot of young trans people feel that they are more accepted online because no one can see what they look like or question their look, name or choice of pronoun. Some of the online places will have regular meet-ups, or you can arrange to meet up with people offline if you want to… BUT make sure you are safe online.
