September 2018 The Proud Trust launched a dedicated Sport Month to eradicate youth inequality in sports.
With the support of GreaterSport, we want to empower young LGBT+ people to get out and try new athletic activities and put an end to the disproportion of those involved in sport across the North West.
Activities that were on offer in and around Greater Manchester:
Mon 3rd Manchester – indoor sports for young lesbian, bisexual and pan sexual women. A mixture of team building activities and group games to get your heart racing 6.00-8.00pm
Weds 5th Team games at Wythenshawe, Trafford and Stockport LGBT youth groups. A mixture of fun based games to get you chatting and problem solving games to get your brain working from 4.30-8.00pm
Thurs 6th Team games, fun and enjoyable group games and a walk in Ellesmere Port 6.30-8.30pm
Sat 8th City Centre walk and games in the park in Manchester 3.00-5.00pm
Sat 15th Young men’s adventure day – Paddle Boarding and open water swimming at Salford Water sports centre 12.00-1.30pm
Sun 16th Manchester Bee Trail. A brisk walk to see all the bees in the bee trail 11.00-2.00pm. Meet 11am at LGBT centre
Mon 17th Manchester – indoor sports for young lesbian, bisexual and pan sexual women 6.00-8.00pm

Activities that were on offer in and around Liverpool:
Wed 19th Consultation in THE Action Youth with Physical Activity & Sport Development Coordinator, Liverpool City Council about barriers to trans young people’s engagement in sport in Liverpool and how we can begin to tackle these barriers. Open to trans young people aged 12 – 19years. 4.30-5.30pm
Sat 22nd THE Action Youth and GYRO Trans swim fun session (closed group)
Cost/no cost: This is a closed session that is free to members of THE Action Youth and GYRO – Funded by Liverpool City Council, Mayoral Active Sports Fund. What to bring kit/drink wise: Towel, swim shorts, t-shirt, swimming kit. Venue: Wavertree Aquatics Centre – Liverpool. 1-3pm
Activities that were on offer in and around Wigan:
Sun 16th 5K colour Run.
Cost/no cost: approx. £200 for 18 participants (the charity the run will raise money for will be Wigan & Leigh hospice however young people will be doing their own fundraising for their own charities). What to bring kit/drink wise: Comfortable sports clothes, water. Venue: Pennington park, Leigh. 11am – 3pm
