We listen to the experiences of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans young people that access our LGBT+ youth groups, and use this information to directly inform the messaging in our sexual orientation and trans awareness online training courses.

Public Courses
Our public courses are open for individuals to sign up to, offering the same high-quality standard of training you can expect from our in-house offerings.

This two-hour online training session will:
- Provide a brief introduction to LGBT+ identities, covering the most up-to-date terminology;
- Introduce LGBT+ History Month and its purpose;
- Showcase the The Proud Trust’s LGBT+ History Month 2024 education and resource pack by immersing you in the activities and offering guidance on delivery;
- Offer signposting to other useful resources for delivering an LGBT+ inclusive curriculum.
Cost: £60 plus VAT. Training will be hosted on Zoom.
Training Modules
Our training modules below can be booked by your organisation for in-house delivery to your team.

A two-hour interactive online course that will:
- Cover some of the popular and appropriate terminology used to describe different sexual orientations.
- Consider the visibility of different kinds of identities, and the impact of this.
- Explore the common myths and misconceptions around different sexual orientations.
- Help you identify the ways in which you can make your practice more inclusive.
- Offer you signposting to useful resources and services.
This course is a focus on sexual orientation only (the LGB bit of LGBT). For a discussion around gender identity (the T bit of LGBT), please see our other course “Introduction to Trans Awareness”.

A two-hour interactive online course that will:
- Cover some of the popular and appropriate terminology used to describe different gender identities.
- Consider the visibility of different kinds of identities, and the impact of this.
- Explore the common myths and misconceptions about gender and trans identities.
- Begin to identify the ways in which you can make your practice more inclusive.
- Offer you signposting to useful resources and services.
This course is a focus on gender identity only (the T bit of LGBT). For a discussion around sexuality (the LGB bit of LGBT), please see our other course “Introduction to Sexuality Awareness”.

A two-hour interactive online course that will:
- Further develop your understanding of trans (including non-binary) identities and people, and their experiences*.
- Highlight the everyday challenges that are faced by trans (including non-binary) young people, and the impact of this.
- Identify the legal, statutory and moral responsibilities that organisations have with regards to supporting trans (including non-binary) young people.
- Help you to identity ways to make your practice and organisation inclusive and accessible for trans (including non-binary) young people, giving you confidence to ask the right questions.
- Offer practical advice, support, signposting and useful resources for organisations working with trans (including non-binary) young people.
*For best results, we require that attendees on this course have previously attended our “Introduction to Trans Awareness” online course.
This course is available for booking in-house for your team. We may run it as a public course, if enough interest is registered.

A three-hour interactive online course, bespoke for primary, secondary, and SEND settings, that will:
- Introduces basic LGBT+ awareness and terminology*.
- Explore the benefits of delivering an LGBT+ inclusive curriculum for your students and your school.
- Help you identify the ways in which you can make your practice more inclusive.
- Identify the policies, guidance and laws that support you in delivering an LGBT+ inclusive curriculum.
- Discover useful strategies in confidently and consistently recognising, challenging and reporting LGBTphobia.
- Provide some understanding and suggestions as to how we can change the language we use around relationships and gender to be more inclusive.
- Showcase free resources that can support you in delivering LGBT+ inclusive lessons.
*This course is a focus on delivering an LGBT+ inclusive curriculum. For best results, we recommend also attending both of our basic awareness courses, “Introduction to Sexual Orientation Awareness (the LGB bit)” and “Introduction to Trans Awareness (the T bit)”, beforehand. In this instance, this course can be delivered in two-hour hours, as the basic introduction of LGBT+ awareness and terminology has already been covered.
This course is especially useful for schools working towards their Rainbow Flag Award.
