Who it is for: 

Anyone working, volunteering or otherwise interested in LGBT(+) youth provision, and also for any youth workers who are LGBT(+).Selecting your workshop and lunch choices: Once you have booked on, we will send you a link to another form for you to register your workshop preferences, choose your lunch etc.

This is a collaborative conference with representatives from a range of organisations across Ireland and the UK including The Proud Trust, BeLonG To (Ireland),  LGBT Youth Scotland, the National Youth Agency,  LGBT Consortium, Gendered Intelligence, Allsorts, The Kite Trust, Lancaster University, and Manchester Metropolitan University.

Keynote:

We are delighted to welcome  Professor Elizabeth McDermott as our keynote speaker.  Elizabeth is Professor of Health Inequality in the Faculty of Health & Medicine at Lancaster University. Over the last two decades her research has concentrated in particular on understanding why LGBTQ+ young people have elevated rates of poor mental health. In January 2019 she will be leading a 3 year UK national study funded by the NIHR which identifies and evaluates early intervention mental health support for LGBTQ+ youth.

Learn about the key findings from the most recent and extensive research on why LGBTQ+ young people have elevated rates of poor mental health, and impact on practice.

Participate in some of the 10+ workshops to choose from over the day including:

  • Using group games and cooperative games in your work
  • How does LGBTQ+ youth work improve young people’s mental health?
  • COLOURS Network: BAME centring and inclusive LGBT(+) youth work
  • Encouraging youth leadership within LGBT+ organisations
  • There’s no such thing as ‘gay sex’ – making relationships and sex education LGBT+ inclusive
  • Providing integrated and separate settings to support trans and non-binary young people in our work-

Lunch and refreshments are included.
