The Classroom
For many years, many schools delivering any kind of LGBT+ awareness work, were doing so as part of their PSHE or RSE programmes. Far too often, this was the single one hour of education on this topic that the student ever received. This kind of LGBT+ specific education is important, but what is equally important, is LGBT+ inclusive lessons, a sprinkling of LGBT+ people and lives through all curriculum areas.
The Rainbow Flag Award Classroom is a free set of LGBT+ inclusive lesson plans and resources, that link to the English national curriculum. Lessons have been written across all key stages and all curriculum areas, see here for samples.
Go to the Rainbow Flag Award website to collect your LGBT+ inclusive Classroom lessons.
The Rainbow Flag Award Classroom has been built as a legacy to the original Classroom website created by Schools OUT UK. Find out more here.
