Coronavirus (COVID-19) Statement

The Proud Trust is now operating digitally, as we make significant changes to how we operate in this time of international concern.

All youth groups and 1-1s (face-to-face contact) are not running in their usual venues and are being delivered virtually instead.

Our LGBT+ Centre is closed, if you want to get in touch, contact us at centre@theproudtrust.org

Our face to face training is also postponed, but some courses have moved virtual. Information on upcoming virtual training, can be found here.

Youth workers will be sending out Google Hangout links for our group work and 1-1 support. Please contact us if you have any questions.

We are still here for you and all LGBT+ young people.

Online Courses

We listen to the experiences of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans young people that access our LGBT+ youth groups, and use this information to directly inform the messaging in our LGBT+ and trans awareness online training courses.

    An interactive two-hour online course that will:

    • Explore the benefits of delivering an LGBT+ inclusive curriculum for your students and your school.
    • Help you identify the ways in which you can make your practice more inclusive.
    • Identify the policies, guidance and laws that support you in delivering an LGBT+ inclusive curriculum.
    • Provide some understanding and suggestions as to how we can change the language we use around relationships and gender to be more inclusive.
    • Showcase free resources that can support you in delivering LGBT+ inclusive lessons.

    This course is a focus on delivering an LGBT+ inclusive curriculum. For best results, we recommend attending both of our basic awareness courses, “Introduction to Sexuality Awareness (the LGB bit)” and “Introduction to Trans Awareness (the T bit)”, beforehand.

    This course is especially useful for schools working towards their Rainbow Flag Award.

    This course is available for booking in-house for your team. We may run it as a public course, if enough interest is registered.

    • Highlight how the RSE guidance has changed to include LGBT+ identities.
    • Identify how LGBT+ inclusive relationships and sex education will benefit your students and the wider community.
    • Provide some understanding as to how we can change the language we use around relationships and sex to be more inclusive.
    • Help you identify the ways in which you can make your practice more inclusive.
    • Showcase some recommended resources that will enable you to meet your new requirements.

    This is a focus on effectively delivering LGBT+ inclusive Relationships and Sex Education. For best results, we recommend attending both of our basic awareness courses, “Introduction to Sexuality Awareness (the LGB bit)” and “Introduction to Trans Awareness (the T bit)”, beforehand.

    This course is available for booking in-house for your team. We may run it as a public course, if enough interest is registered.

    An interactive two-hour online course that will:

    • Explore the benefits of creating an LGBT+ group for your students and your school.
    • Highlight the dos and don’ts when running an LGBT+ group.
    • Identify the policies and laws that support you in creating a group.
    • Advise you in managing the workload.
    • Provide some understanding of your safeguarding responsibilities to your group.
    • Provide you with some starter activity suggestions.

    This is a focus on beginning and sustaining an LGBT+ group in school. For best results, we recommend attending both of our basic awareness courses, “Introduction to Sexuality Awareness (the LGB bit)” and “Introduction to Trans Awareness (the T bit)”.

    Folks interested in this course will also be interested in joining our LGBT+ Groups in Schools Alliance.
