    We are receiving an increasing number of requests from primary schools to guide them appropriately to support any trans, gender variant or non-binary children or young people in their care. These requests tend to be reactive, in response to a child or young person “coming out”. We believe that a proactive approach is needed, having the systems, support and education in place, acknowledging the inevitability that a trans, gender variant or non-binary child or young person is already attending your school.

    This one day training course will:

    • Be an in depth exploration of gender and gender identity;
    • Give delegates an appropriate set of terminology pertaining to trans, gender variant and non-binary identities;
    • Explore myths and critique the misrepresentation of trans, gender variant and non-binary people in popular culture and the media;
    • Understand at the legal, Oftsed and moral obligations of a primary school to meet the needs of a trans, gender variant or non-binary child in their care;
    • Offer appropriate signposting to organisations that can offer support to a trans child and their family;
    • Identify practical solutions to help create an inclusive primary school environment.

    Attendance on this course will also provide you with a complimentary copy of “Alien Nation“, our book for use with KS2 children, that explores gender, gender expression, gender expectations as well as introducing important trans terminology. This book in turn gives you access to free further wrap-around learning resources.

    This course is aimed at, and is appropriate for, all primary education professionals, including teachers, Head Teachers, SLT, school governors and teaching assistants.

    Cost £130* per delegate.

    *Rainbow Flag Award member schools £104 per delegate, enter your discount code at the point of booking. This course will give you the skills and resources to better meet the standards in the red Skilled Teacher, green Inclusive Curriculum and blue Pastoral Support sections.

    • Offer appropriate signposting to organisations that can offer support to a trans young person and their family;
    • Give delegates the confidence and skills to recognise and appropriately challenge transphobic language and behaviours.

    Sexuality aGender v2 is a brand new, pioneering resource pack. It is NOT a sexual health package for LGBT+ young people, it is an inclusive pack for ALL young people.

    The Proud Trust has an extensive history of working with LGBT+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, plus other related identities) young people. Over the years, these LGBT+ young people have consistently told us that the sexual health information they have received in mainstream education has not been meeting their needs, for a variety of reasons.

    Sexuality aGender v2 will enable you to engage with young people in a meaningful conversation about gender identity, sexuality and sexual health. This will in turn help them explore who they are and what they want, in a safe, supported way, free from assumptions.

    Delegates will receive a Sexuality aGender v2 toolkit (cost without training £29) to take away and deliver in their settings.

    Cost just £30* per delegate (usual price £140, subsidised thanks to funding from the Government Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport).

    *Rainbow Flag Award member schools, enter your discount code at the point of booking. This course will give you the skills and resources to better meet the standards in the green Inclusive Curriculum and blue Pastoral Support sections.

    The Proud Trust has a deep, rich history, of involving the LGBT+ young people we work with in the design and development of our youth provisions, resources, campaigns and organisation overall. We recognise that young people’s voices can be highly effective in bringing about change, especially in spaces that directly relate to them.

    For some organisations, however, the juxtaposition of existing rules or traditions and the desire for social change, can sometimes feel difficult to manage. So how do we safely and positively support young people to undertake initiatives that are LGBT+ specific, or LGBT+ inclusive?

    This one day training course for professionals will:

    • Increase participant confidence, encouraging delegates to work with young people to start and maintain, through effectively supporting, youth-led initiatives in their settings;
    • Offer a set of comprehensive resources that can be shared with young people, helping to support their development of their project;
    • Enable the professional to think about what needs to be in place to ensure that young people are heard, but also kept safe;
    • Ultimately support you to give young people skills, experiences and opportunities that will serve them well in their chosen careers.

    Participants on this course will go away with a comprehensive set of resources, which are designed specifically to support the development of popular LGBT+ specific and LGBT+ inclusive initiatives, such as:

    • The setting up of and running an LGBT+ group in their school (Peer Facilitators);
    • Designing and delivering an LGBT+ awareness campaign (LGBT+ Ambassadors);
    • Offering a peer support service that is truly inclusive to all (Peer Supporters).

    Cost £125* per delegate.

    *RAINBOW FLAG AWARD  member schools £100 per delegate, enter your discount code at the point of booking. This course will give you the skills and resources to better meet the standards in the blue Pastoral Support and purple Pupil Voice sections.

For all training bookings, cancellations received 14 days or more before the training is due to start will not be charged or will receive a full refund if payment has already been received. Cancellations received after this date may incur a part of the cost, or incur the full cost of the training place(s).
