Trans Inclusion in Schools
The Proud Trust’s Trans Inclusion Toolkit for Greater Manchester Schools is an in-depth and practical how-to guide for teachers and school staff, giving them all the information and tools they need to best support the trans and non-binary young people in their school.
The aim of this document is to provide schools with a clear, practical and easy-to-follow guide to creating a supportive environment in which all students can flourish. The recommendations in the trans inclusion toolkit are informed by The Proud Trust’s research with parents, schools and young people and it has also been checked by legal experts, so that schools can be confident that the advice given is reflective of the relevant legislation.
TRANS INCLUSIVE RESIDENTIALS
Our friends at Gendered Intelligence have created guidance to support professionals who work with young people on how to run residentials that are inclusive for young trans people.
The 24-page guidance includes strategies for residentials that prioritise the physical and emotional safety of every young person, centre consent and avoiding reinforcing gender stereotypes. It covers a wide range of areas from changing facilities and sleeping arrangements to outdoor activities and residentials abroad. It also provides guidance on how to support young people once the residential has come to an end.

Holding scheduled events for the parents, carers and friends of LGBTQ+ young people can prove to be a very rewarding experience for all involved. Parents, carers and friends are able to ask questions and demystify what LGBTQ+ youth provisions offer and do. LGBTQ+ young people feel better supported and are often empowered from these events.
